Daniel Reeves Obituary

Daniel “Dann” Lee Reeves of Helena passed away peacefully as he slept on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 after a long illness. He was born on August 27th, 1947, in Butte, Montana as the only child of Fern Augusta Schulz and Milton “Buzz” Taylor. Dann graduated from Helena High School, attended Montana State University, served in the U.S. Army Reserves, and Graduated from Carroll College in 1974 with a degree in Elementary Education. He was a proud Caroll College Fighting Saint and loved celebrating their many NAIA championships.

Dann was an avid reader, life-long Montanan, nature lover, educator, seeker, musician, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. You might have seen him around Helena, playing his Recorder for anyone passing by at the Saturday Market, or on a bench on the Walking Mall. While Dann had few earthly possessions, what he did have, he gave freely to others and without judgment – he was a good friend to many, and many are blessed to call him a friend. Dann is survived by his children, daughter Thea Reeves of Seattle, sons Joshua Bradley of Wyoming, Paul Jordan (Julia) of California, former wife Gerri Woods (David) Payne, half-siblings Edward Reeves (Vivian), Nanci Taylor (Gary), and treasured grandchildren; Joe, Riley, Bridger, Reaghan, Tanna, Walter, and Harold along with numerous nieces, nephews and his Ely 1st cousins who were like siblings. He is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Thalia Rose Reeves, parents Fern and Buzz, stepfather Leonard Reeves, and half-sister, Deborah Dakini (Reeves) White Deer The family would like to thank the Cooney Home staff in Helena and Headwater’s Hospice, where Dann’s final years and days were filled with grace, respect, and most of all dignity.

A Celebration of Life for Dann will be held in Helena on Thursday, May 2nd at 1:00 PM at Simple Cremation and Sunset Funeral Services, 315 E. 6th Ave. A private burial will be held at a later date.
